Our
daily life is driven by the strength of our thoughts, by the
confidence in our capacities, and the esteem from others, and
therefore our path is more secure. A smile, a glance, a nod
of the head, makes it easy.
To love...love... it has to be told, it has to
be shown. Love has to be brought alive with words, and made
tangible with a gift. It is necessary to have the courage to
show one's weakness, one's longing for tenderness, the willingness
to walk side by side.
Take care of it, nourish it with attentions, with memory, with
anniversaries, and not only the important ones, but mostly those
which come to life from the flow of living and loving, from
the flowing of that love of which we have to invent its path
and seal its stages. To give, to devote oneself. The outburst
of our feelings, the strength of our sentiments can materialize
itself only in a diamond: indomitable vigour, courage, happiness,
purity. Everything is implied in a diamond.
A diamond is forever.
Plinio thought:
"diamond is considered as the highest valuable thing
amongst the goods of men. It was known only by kings and furthermore
not by many of them.
The ancients believed that the gem could be found only in the
mines of Ethiopia between the Temple of Mercury and the island
of Meroe, and said that they could find them bigger than a seed
of cucumber or of different colours. Nowadays six varieties
of diamond are known: diamonds are tested on the anvil: the
stones repel the strokes with so much strength as to spurt out
the iron in two pieces and also causes the anvil to jump. The
hardness of the diamond is extraordinary, and its nature can
defeat the fire without warming itself up: its name is derived
for this reason (in Greek it means "indomitable force").
In all the 37 books of Naturalis Historia I have tried to explain
something about the conflict and the discrepancy of the elements,
called by the Greeks antipathy and sympathy.
The above concept is very well explained here. Iron and fire,
the most powerful elements on earth, are smashed by the billygoat's
blood but only after a diamond has been plunged into this fresh,
still lukewarm blood; many strokes are necessary; at this stage
the gem can break anything except the toughest anvils and iron
objects. Who discovered all this? Or what kind of conjecture
has led to experiment such invaluable substance in the foulest
of anima's? Such invention seems to have been conceived by the
gods, and it is a gift from them; nowhere in nature one has
to look for its laws, but its will...
Diamond has still the power to neutralize the effects of a poison,
it soothes delirious fever and drives futile fears away
"
Andrea Bacci
(1587) said: "the strength of the diamond is stronger
where love is around
"
A diamond
is to tell her you love her. It is also the synthesis of all
the values we bestow on beauty and on the quest of the sublime;
it opens heart and soul to new challenges, can be given or can
seize the essence of love and of the sublime. The woman who
receives a diamond as a gift feels herself desired, considered,
cared for , and intimately loved. Passion drives heart and soul,
defines and nourishes our energies, makes us feel strong, useful,
alive, courageous, audacious. These were the very qualities
the ancients used to attribute to the most precious gems.
